Naming Your Pedigreed Dog

Unlike some aspects of dog ownership, naming your dog is just plain fun! The pets themselves don’t require much; they just need a pleasing dog name they can identify with when you give them commands. But if you plan to show a purebred dog in competitions, there’s a lot to consider when it’s time to choose a dog name for your dog’s American Kennel Club certificate. Let’s start at the beginning.

Facts On Blue Pitbulls

The rise in popularity of blue pitbulls has been on the rise the past decade with the ever-increasing interest in the dogs themselves. The interest is spawned from the media coverage that a pitbull gets when it attacks someone however; this fact is pretty uncommon also. It’s hard to say how many people are attacked by pitbulls in a year because many are owners attacked and go largely unreported however, on average in the United States there are only a reported 3-4 cases a year. There is no reason to speculate on why or try to understand why these things happen but blue pitbulls haven’t been an issue, yet.

Important Safety Tips When Hiking With Your Dog

Dogs are man’s best friend, and most of us will want to achieve the status of being our dog’s best friend as well. How do you do that? Simply take him out for walks, or exciting adventures such as hiking. Dogs love to roam around freely, and being able to run on grassy lawns as well as play at forests areas. Seeing it in such a happy state one can almost see a smile on its face.

Shih Tzu - Should You Free Feed Or Feed By Meals?

It is medical fact that a dog’s digestive system is designed more to gorge. For this one reason alone, I suggest feeding your shih tzu by “meals.” If you leave food out all the time, and I have fed my shih tzu with free feeding, so I know about what they will do…..they will eat, and eat, eat….until they will become overweight and have soft, runny stools. Most of us just hate “runny stools.” One way to avoid them is to not “free feed.” You need to divide your shih tzu’s food into meals. So how many meals should that be? Try feeding an adult shih tzu 3/4 cup to 1 cup of dry kibble “twice” per day. This would mean a morning meal and an evening meal. Some dog nutritionists even suggest just one meal per day. So you would divide your 3/4 cup or 1 cup of dry kibble into 1/2 cups for two meals.
