Almost all breeds of dogs are group oriented, with the need to interact with other species of their group to remain secure. Over years of breeding, however, Golden Retrievers have been adapted to interact more with people. Perfectly suitable as guide dogs they are also able assistants for those who like to hunt and as companions for younger children. Interaction with people is important to them as a consequence of their breeding.

Cancer in dogs is more common that many people would trend to believe. Studies indicate that that approximately 25% of dogs will contract cancer at some time in their life and that almost 50% of all dogs older than the age of ten years will die of cancer

If your dog contracts cancer, the affected areas can include but are not limited to the skin, organs, bone and organs. Cancer in your dog may progress gradually or with rapidity.

Many parasites can infect your horse, and some are entirely unpreventable. One such parasite is the bot, transmitted by the botfly. This fly lays its eggs on the skin of the horse, which is then transmitted to the mouth by licking. The parasites eventually move to the stomach attach themselves to the lining and feed. This can cause problems with digestion and obstruct the passage of food. After nine months, the larvae leave through the feces and borrow into the ground where they become adult botflies. There are a few anti-botfly sprays available on the market, but currently almost all horses are infected with this parasite.

For as long as I can remember I have heard that dogs are much smarter than cats.

However, I have felt that just because a dog will do tricks and most cats don’t, is not reason enough to say cats are not smart.

My theory has always been that cats are so smart that they won’t learn any tricks unless they want to.

It is not something they have to do.

The Puli is an amazing looking sheepherding dog. They seem to do well in all climates but like cooler weather better. They can live in an apartment as long as they can get frequent walks. They like other dogs and pets but may try to herd them. The same goes for children. As a reminder, never leave a child unsupervised with a puppy or dog. They have a gorgeous coat that takes a lot of grooming time.

In fact, you may be familiar with one very famous African Grey parrot named Alex. He has been the subject of scientific studies and many television programs and documentaries. As of current testing, it has been determined that Alex has the same mental capacities of a two-year-old child. It is no wonder so many bird fanciers are racing to own African Grey parrots.
