For the home Shih Tzu kennel owner a scoop designed for the purpose of scooping dog waste and a garbage can double-lined with heavy-duty trash sacks is all that is needed. If you wish to go to the expense of installing a septic system, concrete-surfaced runs emptying into a sloped trough perpendicular to and beyond the run’s length is common. The costs can be considerable. You might try surrounding the run pad with a bed of gravel several inches deep into which urine and cleaning solutions can be hosed and drained away.

One of the most important aspects of properly caring for your pet rabbit is providing him with a healthy, satisfying, and well-balanced diet. Prescription Pets: Better Health in a Furry Package

For nearly five years Anna Lamb, 36, has struggled with depression. She has sought help from doctors, taken various prescription and over the counter medications, vitamins, and an array of natural remedies all in an effort to control it. What has perhaps been the most welcome and effective antidote to combating her depression, however, came to her by chance in the form of a neglected, seven year old border collie named Mike. A friend of hers who is active in a border collie rescue group convinced Anna to bring Mike home and care for him. “It was hard to live alone,” she explains, “hard to come home at times. The only thing facing me was cleaning, the television, the computer, the telephone; no other living being. Mike has changed that. It’s nice to come home and have him waiting for me. One of my classmates even told me a short time after I got Mike that my disposition changed. I seemed happier.”

Training older dogs is no different than training younger dogs - well, there IS one difference: you need more patience.

The old adage about teaching an old dog new tricks has no meaning in the world of dog training. I have seen cases in which older dogs - dogs in their double-digit years - become dog obedience poster dogs!

The History of Japanese Koi Fish and The Magoi

It’s kind of hard to imagine that the beautiful Japanese Koi fish came from a rather plain and ugly fish, but that is exactly where they came from! The current day Koi are actually descendents of a black fish called a Magoi, or the common carp. There was little to be said for the common carp, but they were prominent all over Eastern Asia. Dating back almost 25,000 years ago, they were found in the Black, Azov, Caspian, and Aral seas all around China. There is some speculation about how the carp actually ended up in Japan, but many believe that they were brought to Japan by way of traders.
