Here all this time I had been thinking that Dog beds, Bolster Dog beds and Round Dog Beds were new to the industry. Quite to my surprise, while I was doing research on Dog Beds the other day on Patents I found this not to be true.

TV Dog Trainers Exposed!

Who could fail to be impressed by the extraordinary results of TV celebrity dog trainers? In minutes they can turn anxious, aggressive, “dominant” mutts into angelic pooches who never set a paw wrong… or can they?

The wonderful thing about television is it’s value as an entertainment medium. TV producers (with some very limited exceptions) are not there to disseminate important information, they are there to sell advertising time or subscriptions. And nothing sells like a story of transformation that inspires hope, particularly if that story is about a beloved pet. It’s something any pet-lover can relate to. Particularly if you are like the majority of pet owners and struggle with training, obedience and doggy manners.

A Crate Is Not A Cage

The crate is no longer considered a cage except by the uninformed. Crates when used by the knowledgeable owner have many benefits.

Firstly, using a crate from the beginning is an excellent approach to housebreaking. Dogs who are raised in a clean environment with a good dam will not soil in their beds. Puppies are trained by their mother from the beginning that the bed area must be kept clean. When they defecate or urinate, they are immediately cleaned by their dam. This ingrains into them the necessity for a clean bed area. When they are not even two weeks old, they will begin to crawl away from the bedding area as far as possible to eliminate, thus keeping the sleeping area clean. Unless they simply can’t hold it, they will do everything possible to avoid eliminating in their bed area. Thus, when they are put into a crate, if they come to accept this area as their bed, they will not eliminate in the crate.

Responsibility Of Dog Ownership

Owning a dog is a serious responsibility, one that should not be taken lightly. But what exactly does being a responsible dog owner mean? Well, when broken down, it is easy, but it does involve a few different elements.

First of all, you’ve got to make sure that your dog does not become a nuisance to others. Your dog shouldn’t be out roaming the streets, destroying property, chasing animals or children, leaving excrement in the park, barking incessantly, etc. In sum, it really comes down to proper control of your dog, good dog training, cleaning up after your good friend, and giving him or her the proper attention and exercise that is needed. Here are some golden rules for owning a dog.

How Many Dogs Are Too Many?

I’m a pariah among the dog fanciers in my community. Why? Because I testified in support of a new regulation to limit pet ownership to no more than a total of three dogs and/or cats, older than six-months of age, in one household.

The reason for the age threshold is to give people time to place any puppies or kittens that their family pet has.

Every major dog/pet organization I’m familiar with opposes such regulations or laws. That includes not only the animal rights people but mainstream groups such as the American Kennel Club (AKC).

An Odor Free Cat Litter Box For Your Family Feline

It’s often said that cats are clean animals, and so they need to be. I can’t speak for everyone’s pet feline here, but if your tiger is anything like mine, then it spends half it’s life pooping! Therefore we needed a good cat litter box and not just a conventional tray which are actually quite disgusting things to have around the house.

So just how can you determine what a ‘good’ cat litter box is? You might think that the more you spend the better the product, but that’s not always the case as you can actually shell out for cosmetic designs, and I’m darned if I’d pay extra for a pretty cat toilet. No, the ole cat litter box has to be functional, practical, and easy to clean.

Your New Cat: Why Are the First 24 Hours So Important? Part 1

The cage was small, but the people were nice and Tiger felt safe. He was fed, petted and regularly groomed. Still, it wasn’t home. Tiger had been ‘home’, and still had vague memories of the woman who had cared for him and the other cats who lived with her.

Then he had been taken to this place, and had been here so long he had almost forgotten ‘home’, and the woman.

There was uneasiness here, though, and Tiger felt it. Something was about to happen. Something bad.

Dog Intestinal Problems

Upset tummies are common problem in dogs.

The effects of over-processed foods, stress and environmental conditions can affect dogs just like it will humans.

Vomiting, diarrhea, grumbling stomach and bloat though common, can have a variety of causes, some of which are easy to solve with a change in diet, others with some serious medical treatment.

What I will try to do is cover some of the more common causes and what can be done to avoid or treat the cause.

Why Don’t You Teach Your Dog to Fetch?

If you want to create a bit of fun with your pup; why don’t you teach your dog to fetch! Fetch is a simple command that can be taught easily to puppies but is not beyond the ability of older dogs to learn it as well. This simple game is used mainly as entertainment with the purpose of creating bonding time between a dog and his trainer.

So how do you go about teaching this behavior?

Pet Insurance For Cats - The Facts Few People Know

Few people know this, but pet insurance has actually been around for about 15-20 years.

The number of pet owners who have Pet Insurance is growing rapidly every year - especially since the plans have been getting better over the years.

Until pet insurance came along, preventative and routine care, as well as emergencies and diseases were all paid for by the pet owner - which isn’t like most medical, surgical, dental, and pharmacy cases in human medicine.

Pet health policies are closely related to human insurance policies.
