Buying a horse can be a very time consuming endeavor, with all the different horse breeds and skills to choose from. The more you become familiar with the process of buying and selling horses, the better your chances will be to end up with the horse to fit your needs. There are many avenues to look for the horse you want, like a local barn, tack shops, newspaper classifieds, and now you can go online and look through thousands of horse for sale classifieds. Take your time and don’t get to overwhelmed. If you make the selection process in a hurry, you might make an unwise purchase. Plan to take from one month to one year to find your ideal horse. Understandably, if you are without a horse, one year might sound like a very long time, but you can use this time to become more knowledgeable about what you want by taking lessons.

Just as you wouldn’t put down a dirt floor in your bathroom, there are certain issues you should think through when deciding what type of footing to use in your round pen. Too often we don’t give this enough thought, or tend to go with the cheapest option, only to have to redo it or pay for our choice many times over in the future. Remember, your round pen footing is the cushion layer. It will absorb shock and help protect your horse from injury.

Before attempting to clean your dog’s teeth for the first time you will need the following items:

Muzzle,
Soft cloth,
Gravy,
Dog tooth brush and toothpaste (get these from your vet or pet store)

As with all new things this may take some time for your dog to accept so do each step in different sessions and build up both yours and your dogs confidence in the whole process (always do steps 1 and 2). Here are the 6 basic steps to cleaning your dog’s teeth for the first time.

Obesity is one of the most important health concerns facing dogs. If you love your dog, you should do something about it. Overweight dogs live shorter and less healthy lives and your enjoyment of their precious companionship may be shortened because of it.

A breed of cat as old as recorded history, the Egyptian Mau (’Mau’ means ‘cat’ in Egyptian) can be seen in the artwork of the ancient Egyptians. It is thought that Egyptian Maus are descended from species of the African Wild Cat. In that culture, the cats were worshiped, protected by laws and mummified. The Egyptian Mau is the only breed of cat that has naturally occurring spots on its short coat. Found in a random pattern on the fur, these spots can also be found on the skin. The coat can be silver, bronze or smoke colored with variations occurring between these three colors.

I love pets and have had pets in my home since I was a child. But I had this one parrot that hated my guts. What Is Parvo

Parvo is a serious viral disease that can be deadly even if treatment is given. So, to protect your puppy from contracting pravo you need to have your puppy vaccinated against this disease.

First, let’s look at what Parvo is and what the symptoms are. Canine Parvovirus is a disease that attacks dividing cells. The most prominent location for dividing cells in your puppy’s body is the intestinal lining or the lining of the digestive system. When this disease attacks and kills these cells it causes dogs and puppies to not be able to absorb nutrients or liquids. Parvo is seen more in puppies than in adult dogs, but both can catch the disease. The reason that puppies are more affected is that they have an immature immune system.

That’s what, according to the alpha dog theory, would happen if you let your dog to sleep with you (Ok, I exaggerated a bit, but that’s just because I want to be a drama writer when I grow up.)

There are several goldfish diseases that can threaten the health of your aquatic pet, but if you provide the proper tank maintenance and make sure that the water is of good quality there will be less of a chance of your fish getting sick. Goldfish can actually live for quite some time - many years - if cared for properly, but many of them do not receive the care they need and die of diseases when they are relatively young.

Fleas are the most annoying and troublesome insects for both humans and their pets. While we can use various products to rid ourselves of fleas, old-fashioned, preventative home remedies relieve us of ever having to have them in the first place.

Various techniques and products are available in the market to get rid of these fleas, but we don’t often get the expected results. Even if we do manage to rid ourselves of the scourge of fleas, this is often not long-lasting or accompanied by side-effects. For example, the use of prednisone and corticosteroid drugs helps to give relief from flea bites, but at the same time, weakens the immune system. Similarly, chemicals containing poisons are often successful in killing fleas, but they are unsafe on pets in the long term.
